Connection Type - Truss Node (CM66 and Eurocode 3)

For the CM66 and Eurocode 3 (ENV 1993-1-1:1992 and EN 1993-1-8:2005) codes, the following types of the truss node connection are available:

  • tube (tube truss node)
  • gusset plate (single bar)
  • gusset plate (internal node or truss chord node)

Parameters defined for the tube (tube truss node) connection

  • The set of forces considered during calculations of the connection
    • axial forces N and moments in the truss chord
    • axial forces in adjoining bars (diagonals)
    • axial force in the truss post
    • bending moments in diagonals and the post (for the French code CM66)
  • Connection parameters:
    • connection type (one- or two-sided)
    • diagonals
    • upper/lower diagonals
    • additional parameters (welds).

Parameters defined for the gusset plate (single bar) connection

  • The set of forces considered during calculations of the connection:
    • axial force N
  • Connection parameters:
    • connection type (bolted, welded)
    • bolts (or welds)
    • gusset plate
    • method of fixing of the plate.

Parameters defined for the gusset plate (internal node or truss chord node) connection

  • The set of forces considered during calculations of the connection:
    • axial forces N in the truss bars adjoining the designed node
  • Connection parameters:
    • Connection type (bolted, welded)
    • Bolts (or welds)
    • Gusset plate.
