Create a Conceptual Design

Use the conceptual design environment to create a conceptual mass or a pattern component. Select a template to provide a starting point.

By default, conceptual mass templates are stored in this location:

• %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Autodesk\RVT 2026\Family Templates\<language>\Conceptual Mass

From the ribbon

1. Click File tabNewConceptual Mass.

   The New Concept Mass - Select Template File window opens.

2. Select the desired template (such as Mass.rft), and click Open.

From the Home page

1. On the Home page, under Families, click New.

   The New Family - Select Template File dialog opens. By default, it navigates to the \Family Templates\<language> folder.

2. Double-click the Conceptual Mass folder.
3. Select the desired template (such as Mass.rft), and click Open.
