Learn the definition of roof height lines in Areabook.
If a room is covered by a roof, Areabook recognizes the subareas of the room based on the roof height lines. The calculation of roof subareas requires a correct definition of these height lines.
Area calculation by International Standard is not subject to general provisions.

The height line settings can be defined in the Calculation Settings dialog. The following examples show how height lines respond in different project standards.
International Standard
The definition of height lines is not subject to general provisions. Therefore, it is possible to optionally use one, two or no height lines in any heights. Define the height lines by your requirements and if needed, orient on the examples shown here.
DIN Standard (Germany): DIN 277
Area calculation according to DIN 277 requires only one height line (default 1.50 m).
Example 1: No knee wall
- Height Line Positions settings in the Calculation Settings dialog:
- Height line 1: 1.50 m
- Height line 2: deactivated.
- No adjustments necessary due to the lack of a knee wall.
Example 2: Knee wall at a 0.50 m height
- Height Line Positions settings in the Calculation Settings dialog:
- Height line 1: 1.00 m
- Height line 2: deactivated
- Height line required a 50 cm adjustment to accommodate 50 cm knee wall.
DIN Standard (Germany): WoflV/II.BV
Area calculation by WoflV/II.BV requires two height lines (default 1 m and 2 m).
Example 1: No knee wall
- Height Line Positions settings in the Calculation Settings dialog:
- Height line 1: 1.00 m
- Height line 2: 2.00 m
- No adjustments necessary due to the lack of a knee wall and floor finish.
Example 2: Knee wall at a 0.50 m height
- Height Line Positions settings in the Calculation Settings dialog:
- Height line 1: 0.50 m
- Height line 2: 1.50 m
- Each height line requires a 50 cm adjustment to accommodate the 50 cm knee wall.
Example 3: Knee wall at 0.50 m height and a floor finish at 0.10 m depth
- Height Line Positions settings in the Calculation Settings dialog:
- Height line 1: 0.40 m
- Height line 2: 1.40 m
- Each height line requires a 60 cm adjustment to accommodate the 50 cm knee wall and a 10 cm floor finish.
