Sketch plates in any shape or size in 3D or plan views.
To create a structural plate
- Click Steel tab
Fabrication Elements panel
(Plate).
- Use the sketch tools on the Draw panel to draw the shape of the plate.
- Click Modify | Create Steel Plate tab
Mode panel
(Finish Edit Mode).
The plate is created in the current work plane and view, according to the sketched contour.
- Plates are only visible when the Detail Level of the view is set to Fine.
- The plate boundary must be a closed contour.
- A plate contour sketch can only contain a single closed contour.
- A plate contour sketch with round edges will be displayed as a polygonal shape with convex or concave corner cuts.
- Plates can be of two types: planar plates that you can sketch and create as individual elements and folded plates that are created only by some standard connections.
Note: As long as a folded plate is a sub-elements of a structural connection, it will only be modified by the connection; if you break the connection, the folded plate becomes an individual element and you can edit it. However, editing a folded plate contour sketch is not available.
