This guide is setup to help with issues encountered that block the upgrading of Revit models/families.

Background Info

Review the following help topics relevant to the versions you are upgrading to see changes that may impact the upgrade and upgraded project:

Initial Troubleshooting

Go through the following initial troubleshooting steps to try clearing the issue:

  1. If you have the earlier version of Revit available:

    1. Update the old version of Revit to the latest build.

    2. Open the file using the Audit checkbox.

    3. Save.

    4. Ensure the newer version of Revit is also updated, and try upgrading again.

  2. Copy/Save files being upgraded locally (to rule out network issues).

  3. Open with worksets turned off for workshared models (this would prevent Revit links from loading, and introducing more work/errors).
