Learn how Revit LT determines the volume of a room.
In project templates, volume computation is turned on by default. If it affects performance, you can turn it off. Then turn on volume computation only when you want to prepare and print schedules or other views that report room volumes.
When it computes room volumes, Revit does the following:
- Determines the room area. See About Room Area. Note: Room volumes are computed to the wall finish, regardless of the Room Area Computation setting.
- Determines the room height. See About Room Height and About Ceilings and Floors in Room Volume Computations.
- Uses the room area and the room height to compute the room volume.
