About Sketched Stair Components

A sketch mode is available for sketching custom stair runs and landings separately. These sketched components can then be connected to create a stair assembly.

This method provides an alternative to creating runs or landings using the standard tools.

Important: When you create components by sketching, they do not have the automatic relationship to each other as when stair components are created with the common component tools. For example, if you sketch run and landing components, then change the run width, the landing shape will not change automatically. Sketched components must be updated manually.
  • You can sketch runs and landings in a plan view or a 3D view.
  • A sketched run includes the boundaries, risers, and stair path.
  • A sketched landing includes the boundaries and stair path.
To enter sketch mode for stairs, use one of the following methods:
  • Select a sketched run or landing in stair edit mode, and click (Edit Sketch).
  • When creating a stair run or landing, select the (Create Sketch) tool.
  • Note: If needed, you can convert a stair component to a sketch for custom editing.
