If you are responsible for installing or upgrading the Revit or Revit LT software to a new release, learn about recent changes to the installation process.
Revit
- Revit only installs on Windows 10 and 11 based operating systems
- Default installation does not contain any optional components. Deployments and Custom Installs from Autodesk Accounts provide customization options. Refer to Create a Custom Revit Deployment.
- Revit installs a limited core set of content (family templates, templates and sample files) needed to run the software. Additional content can be added via Custom Installs, downloaded from an Autodesk Account or added to a project directly from within Revit when using Load Autodesk Family feature.
- Revit does not support installed Revit Shared content. Revit to Working with Shared Content.
- Deployment Image creation and Custom Install options are only available from Autodesk Accounts. There is no longer an offline tool for these workflows.
- Revit does not support installation repair and reinstall workflows.
- Revit uninstall removes all Revit exclusive components, shared components may need to be uninstalled separately. Refer to Autodesk Product and Component Distribution in Revit for a list of components and their uninstall behavior.
Tools and Utilities
- Autodesk Uninstall Tool has been retired.
- Network License Manager is no longer available for installation from the Install Tools and Utilities workflow but can be downloaded from Autodesk Knowledge Network: Autodesk Network License Manager for Windows.
- Autodesk CAD Manager Tools are no longer available for installation from the Install Tools and Utilities workflow.
- The Revit Software Development Kit is no longer available for installation from the Install and Utilities workflow. The Revit Software Development Kit can be downloaded from the Revit Developer Center.
