Integrated Analysis and Design Workflow
The topics Data Preparation Overview - Line Beam and Data Preparation Overview - Refined Analysis list the main steps involved in creating a structural analysis models. The suggested workflow shown below is a combination of line beam and refined analysis:
Step 1:
Create New | Project. In the Navigation Pane select the Structure Definition group.
Click on Add Model | Line Beam at the top of the Structure Definition pane to create a new line beam model.
Step 2:
Define Materials, generic Design Beams and Design Sections.
Step 3:
Use the Line beam analysis to define generic load effects for beams (e.g. construction loads)
Step 4:
Carry out basic preliminary design checks on generic design beams and sections. If necessary make changes to the beams and sections at this stage and re-run generic load effects in line beam analysis.
Step 5:
Re-select the Structure Definition group, and click on Add Model | Refined Model, with the top node ('Models') selected.
Step 6:
Use a mixture of generic and specific beams and sections to build a refined model.
Step 7:
Carry out a refined analysis to obtain distributed load effects for a single specific design beam.
Step 8:
Carry out detailed design checks for the specific design beam.
Step 9:
Repeat last two steps for each specific beam and section.
Step 10:
If changes need to be made to design section and beam geometry this will normally be done at this stage before re-running the process.
