Create Connections
Streams in Tandem are used to receive and store timeseries data from various sensors in the “live” building. This allows users to monitor their facility with informed insights. They are created, classified, and deleted like normal elements in the Tandem database.
As a best practice before creating a stream, create a facility and assign a facility template that contains a classification and parameters that will map to your incoming data.
Once done, open the facility and then open the “Streams” tab from the left-side menu and click + Create in the top right corner.

The CREATE CONNECTIONS dialog allows for several ways to create a stream.
Individual Connection
Using the available field type in a connection name and select a classification from the list. Then click "Create".

Batch Create Connections
Buildings can have hundreds of sensors and devices that collect data—being able to batch import when Tandem requires that each IoT device have a dedicated Stream for FM data to be viewed.
Using this method users can import a .csv or .xlsx file to create multiple stream at once.
- Download the template file from the Batch Create Streams dialogue box.
- Fill in the name, class, and user classification for each stream for each device.
- Save the file as a CSV or XLSX file.
- Import the file.

If, when creating the Connection a classification was not assigned, this can be done by selecting the properties panel. Once the connection has been classified, users will see the parameters relevant to the Stream.

Use the toolbar to bring up charts and reset the secrets for webhooks.

Key Points to Keep in Mind
- Connections act like an element, which means they act and have their own properties, just like a modeled element.
- Parameters that are used in mapping IoT data points need to have a numeric values.
