Work with eCAD items
Once you've imported your eCAD files, you can check them out when you need to make changes, then check them back in to commit the changes.
Check out an electrical package
Open the project containing the desired electrical package.
Open the BOM (
) section of the project.
Locate the Electrical Package you want to check out.
Select more actions (
) > Checkout.
The Checkout files window opens.
Select the box beside the zip file click Checkout Selected Files.
Save the zip file to your computer.
The Electrical Package item is now locked to you. This means that no other users can edit the item while you have the eCAD files checked out.
You can now unzip and open the project in your corresponding eCAD software and begin making changes.
Check in an electrical package
The Check in process is very similar to the initial import process:
Open the project containing the desired electrical package.
Open the BOM (
) section of the project.
Locate the Electrical Package you want to check in. It should still have the blue check out lock beside it.
Select item actions (
) > Checkin.
The eCAD check-in window opens.
Select the desired eCAD template from the BOM Template drop-down.
Click Add files and select the Excel file containing the electrical package BOM details and the zip file of the eCAD project, as well the new drawing if desired.
Click Proceed.
The check in process begins. Once completed:
- A new version of the Excel spreadsheet and zip file are created. If you included the drawing, it also receives a new version.
- If there are any BOM changes, these are applied in the same way as during the initial import.
- The check out lock is removed from the Electrical Package item.
Release an electrical package
eCAD items are released the same way as all CAD items in Upchain - by sending the item to a change request.
Revise an eCAD item in an electrical package
Open the project containing the desired electrical package.
Open the BOM (
) section of the project.
Locate the item you want to revise.
Select item actions (
) > New Version.
Note: If you want to revise a child component and the electrical package is also released, you must revise the electrical package item first.
A new version of the item is created with its status set to Development. The new version of the Electrical package retains all of its CAD files, drawings, and translations. All files are updated to new file versions.
