Important Updates (2026.0)

Find information on the latest required Windows and Linux drivers, minimum requirements for VR/XR runtimes, VRED Core updates, and installation changes.

Drivers

For Windows users, the minimum NVIDIA driver required is v.551.23 or above, but an NVIDIA driver 553.62 is recommended, for RGB raytracing and spectral raytracing.

Important:

At the time of release, driver versions between 555 and 570 were found to cause issues.

For Linux users, the minimum NVIDIA driver required is v.550.54 or above for RGB raytracing and spectral raytracing.

VR/XR

For VR/XR, the minimum requirements regarding runtimes are as follows:

  • SteamVR 2.9.6 or newer for HMDs with SteamVR (OpenVR, OpenXR)
  • VarjoBase 4.7.0.9 or newer for Varjo HMDs with Varjo Base (Varjo native mode, OpenXR)
  • Meta Quest Link App 65.0.0.499.343 or newer for Meta/Oculus HMDs with Meta Quest Link App (OpenXR)
  • VIVE XR Elite requires VIVE Business Streaming v.1.15.11c and the VIVE business Streaming App v.1.0.21.14

File Formats

We have added support for native Catia V6 / Enovia 3D XML file format. Now, you can use 3DXML to bring production engineering data into VRED. Use the preferences in Import/Export > File Type > Catia V6 to change any default settings.

New Data Translator

We have provided a new data translator for Catia V4 and V5, NX, SolidWorks, and SolidEdge that improves quality and performance, while ensuring closer alignment to the conventions set in the native products.

Video captions: We now support importing of 3DXML or CATIA V6 data into VRED. Along with new formats, we also continue to improve our data translation of CATIA and NX data to enhance quality and performance. Please try our new translators by enabling them in the preferences… Thanks for watching the video!

To try these updates, in the preferences, under Import/Export > File Type, select one of the above file types, then in the File Specific Options section, switch the Translator option from Legacy to New Data Translator.

Here are some expected improvements:

  • Improved Scenegraph structure and object naming to better match the source CAD application (NX, Catia, or Solidworks).

    • Removed extra override visibility nodes for NX
    • More consistent curve node structure from Catia V5
    • Maintained volumes and surfaces separate from Catia V4
    • Maintained the Scenegraph hierarchy in Catia V4
    • Materials look as they do in Solidworks
    • Line arc naming now comes through
    • Scengraph hierarchical structure and naming for NX
  • Improved color/render style import from Catia V5

  • Improved importing of normals from Catia

  • Improved color/render style import from Catia V5

  • Improved importing of normals from Catia V5

  • Improved importing of metadata and its structure from Catia and NX

  • Improved NX import material handling, as individual parts, and handling within assemblies

  • Improved importing metadata and its structure from Catia and NX

  • Improved NX import material handling, as individual parts, and handling within assemblies

Here are some expected differences:

  • Differences in tessellation may be found, but similar surface quality should be maintained
  • Catia construction geometry will no be loaded into VRED, in order to maintain performance. In the past, these have been treated as invisible, which was incorrect.
  • Absolute Assembly Paths are not automatically resolved and must be fixed in the source CAD application.
  • Old features, such as associative meshes and materials from Catia V5 R9, may no longer be supported in older Catia formats
  • If using Catia V5 Weld Design for parts generation, the object name may be different

Miscellaneous

  • We updated the DLSS SDK to version 310.1.0.

  • We added a new environment variable, ALIAS_VRED_LIVEREF_LOC, which provides the directory path for where VRED searches for Live Reference data.
