Shape optimization study settings
Shape Optimization settings can be accessed from either of two dialogs and from the browser:
- From the Setup tab, select Study > New Simulation Study
to open the New Study dialog, then click the Settings icon 
in the upper right corner. - From the Setup tab, select Manage > Settings .
- Right-click the Study x - Shape Optimization node in the browser and select Settings.
General settings
There are three settings in the General section of the New Study and Settings dialogs:
- Name: This field defaults to Study x - Shape Optimization (where "x" is the number of the study). You can specify a different name if desired.
- Remove rigid body modes: Refer to Remove Rigid Body Modes to learn about this option, which is applicable to several analysis types.
- Shape Optimization iteration tolerance: By default, the iteration tolerance is set to 0.005. A smaller tolerance should produce a more accurate solution but will also increase the solution time.
Mesh settings
The Mesh settings for a Shape Optimization study are no different than for other study types. Refer to Mesh Settings Dialog for detailed information.
