Activity 3: Create the bottom of the bottle
In this activity, you round off the corner of the bottom of the bottle, create a flat bottom, create a circular indent, and then fill the hole to make the bottle watertight.
Prerequisites
- Activity 2 is complete.
Steps
Translate the bottom of the bottle downwards by 2.5 mm to create a height face and scale it inwards by a factor of 0.85.
Click Form > Modify > Edit Form
.
In the canvas, double-click the circular edge at the bottom of the bottle.
Hold the
Alt
key and click and dragon the manipulator to translate downwards by -2.5 mm.
Click and drag
on the manipulator to scale inwards by a factor of 0.85.
Click a blank area on the canvas.
Scale the bottom of the bottle inwards by a factor of 0.7 and again by a factor of 0.85 to create two flat faces.
Double-click the circular edge at the bottom of the bottle.
Hold the
Alt
key and click and dragon the manipulator to scale inwards by a factor of 0.7.
Click a blank area of the canvas.
Double-click the circular edge at the bottom of the bottle.
Hold the
Alt
key and click and dragon the manipulator to scale inwards by a factor of 0.85.
Click a blank area of the canvas.
Translate the opening of the bottom of the bottle upwards by 2.5 mm to create a circular indent.
Double-click the circular edge at the bottom of the bottle.
Hold the
Alt
key and click and dragon the manipulator to translate upwards by 2.5 mm.
In the Edit Form dialog, click OK.
Fill the hole at the bottom of the bottle to make it watertight.
Click Form > Modify > Fill Hole
.
Make sure the circular edge at the bottom of the bottle is selected. If the edge is not selected, double-click it.
In the Fill Hole dialog, select a Fill Hole Mode of Collapse.
Click OK.
