Workflow: Inspecting a surface using probing

The Inspect Surface strategy lets you create an operation that you can run on a CNC machine, fitted with a probe, for inspecting the surfaces of complex, free-form parts. The inspection results can be imported into Fusion:

• From a machine-generated results file if a live connection is not available, or
• In real-time using a live connection between Fusion and the CNC machine.

Import from a machine-generated results file

1. Create a milling setup.

2. Generate an Inspect Surface operation.

3. Post process the Probe WCS operation to create NC code, and then run the NC code on the CNC machine fitted with a probe.

   

4. Import the machine-generated results file.

5. (Optional) Save the inspection results as a report.

Import in real-time using a live connection

1. Ensure that you have the correct Machine Connector application installed for the machine you are using.

2. Create a milling setup.

3. Generate an Inspect Surface operation.

4. Post process the Probe WCS operation to create NC code, and then transfer the NC code to the CNC machine fitted with a probe.

   

5. Import the inspection results in real-time as the NC code runs on the CNC machine.

6. (Optional) Save the inspection results as a report.
