Part 2: Configure Reference Repair Utility Settings

Part 2 of 5

You can set the Vault location of the Inventor Project file in the Vault, as well as the Configuration, Log, and Output files on the Settings dialog. You can also specify whether the repair feature processes historical versions of files or the latest versions of files.

Modify the following fields, if needed. When you are finished, move on to Part 3.

Customize the Reference Repair Settings

  1. Modify the settings defined in the following table as needed.

    Settings Feature

    Details

    Inventor Project file

Location of the Inventor project file in the Vault.

This location must be manually entered.

Note: Inventor project file must be specified for processing Inventor files.

    Configuration File

Location of the configuration file (RepairReferences_UserPreferences.config). Change the file location by manually entering a new one or clicking the ellipses (...) button and browsing to a new location.

The configuration file tracks the folders that have been scanned successfully, the location where the files from Vault are downloaded for processing, the properties that a user can specify for display in the Reference Table (output file), and the properties that are displayed by default.

To specify additional properties, go to the UDPs section of the config file and add the property you like as shown below:
    <UDPs>
       <string> Part Number </string>
    </UDPs>

Properties Syntax and Restrictions in the Configuration File

    • Spaces in property names are replaced with underscores on the Reference Table (output file).
    • All properties are converted to a string. For example, a date property with a value of 10/24/2012 is converted to October 24, 2012 based on date and time preferences of the system.
    • Properties with images are not supported.

    Log File

Location of the log file used to record the server name, database name, and all utility activity during the repair process.

Change the file location by manually entering a new one or clicking the ellipses (...) button and browsing to a new location.

Note: Every scan has its own log file.

The log file name is the Server Name, Database Name, and Timestamp indicating when the log was created.

    Output File

Location of the Reference Table file (output file) that the Reference Repair Utility creates when a folder is scanned.

Change the file location by manually entering a new one or clicking the ellipses (...) button and browsing to a new location.

Note: Every successful scan has its own output file.

The name of the output file will show as: <Name of Server>_<Name of Database>_<Timestamp>.xml

Important: Once the file is opened in Excel, it will no longer have its original name. When you save the file, you must rename it. Autodesk recommends that you follow the above naming scheme to help you identify the vault and server for the Reference Table contents.

Process all versions of files (including historical) check box

By default, the Reference Repair Utility processes the following versions:

    • Latest versions (all Vault editions)
    • Tip versions of a Revision

      (Vault Workgroup, Collaboration, and Professional)

    • Versions that are in Released lifecycle state

      (Vault Workgroup, Collaboration, and Professional)

    • Versions that are associated with Released Items (Vault Professional only)

Select this check box if you want the Repair Reference Utility to process all versions of files. Once selected, this setting is remembered for subsequent repair processes until you change your selection.

  2. Click OK to save your settings and return to the main dialog.
  3. When you are finished, move on to Part 3.
