The Autodesk Reference Repair Utility is used to manually repair dangling relationships in your vault.
Manual repair is a process that involves Client-side (Vault Client) interaction as well as Server-side (Vault Server) interaction. On the Client-side, the Reference Repair utility is used to scan a selected vault for files with missing references and get a list of suggested references for repairing your data. This list is referred to as a Reference Table.
Note: Microsoft Excel is required to edit the output (Reference Table) from the Reference Repair Utility.
On the Server-side, command-line ADMS Console is used to import references for repair based on your selection(s) in the Reference Table.
Overview of the Typical Workflow for Manual Healing
The typical workflow for manual repair is broken into five parts. Follow these steps to manually update your references.
Note: Autodesk recommends that you
disable purge until you've repaired dangling relationships on a vault using the manual repair process.
- Part 1: Run the Autodesk Reference Repair Utility on the Vault Client workstation. Enter your login credentials and the path to the folder in Vault that you want to scan for dangling relationships.
- Part 2: Click the Settings button. On the Settings dialog, set the location for the Inventor project file, the configuration file, the log file, and the output file.
- Part 3: Start the scan.
- Part 4: Open the output file in Excel and view the results. Accept the suggested references and save the file in XML format.
- Part 5: Import the updated Reference Table file on the Vault server to finish repairing relationships.
Note: Once you are finished repairing relationships with the manual repair process, you can
enable purge for your vault.
