DXF Exporting

The DXF Export function is a tool used to export the Fitting development parts from within our software for use in a CAD or 3rd Party Nesting program. There are a number of methods and locations within the software where the user can export an item to a DXF file.

From the Item Folders The software will not let you carry out a DXF export on an Item File unless it has been created as a Catalogue Items Item. To export the Catalogue Part in DXF Format:

The user can then select Original or Profiled, Original will get the part as it was originally created, there will be no Kerf or Leadins applied, Profiled will apply Kerf (if applicable) and Leads.

From Item Take Off or Quick Take Off Our software will export an Item File, as a 3D model, in DXF format for opening in CAD.

From Job Contents Screen Our software will export the DXF file in the same format as in Item Folders, i.e. as Developed parts, but the Item does not have to be set as a Catalogue Item.

From Opus - Profiler

The ability to export a drawn Opus part is used for exchanging files with colleagues who may not have the CAM package, or are using some other drawing package.

The DXF Export command can be accessed by selecting the DXF Export Icon from the tool bar, by typing DXFEXPORT in the program orby going to the Tools menu ( Tools > DXF Export in Opus and Profiler > DXF Export in Profiler).

A window will open to give the user the opportunity to select the location for saving the exported file.

Once the file has been successfully saved, the program will display a confirmation message.

DXF Exporting a Nest

A nested sheet of Parts can be exported as a DXF file for use in another 3rd party software of machine. This is done by Right Clicking on a nest or nests and selecting DXF Export.

The Nests will then be saved as DXF Files and given the name of the NC number associated with that Nest.
