About Slack Conductors

Slack conductors are loosely stretched and usually result in much smaller tensions that do not require guying. The Guying analysis checks for slack conductors. If a level contains a slack conductor, the guying analysis considers the level balanced and does not add guys for this level.

Specify that a conductor is slack by setting the Slack Tension feature attribute for the conductor in Quick Info or Feature Info. The default value is null, which means that the selected conductor is not a slack conductor. Therefore, the conductor is treated as a full tension conductor and tensions are calculated accordingly. If Slack Tension is set to a specific value, the conductor is treated as a slack conductor and guying is not added for this level. Slack Tension is used for checking overall pole balance after each level is balanced.

To change a slack conductor to a normal conductor, delete the value for Slack Tension in Quick Info or Feature Info.
