Relaxing UVs evens out the spacing between UVs on a mesh, fixing areas of distortion (overlapping UVs). For example, you can untangle interior UVs in combination with the Map UV Border command. You can begin by mapping the UVs to a border (either a square or a circle), and then relax the UVs to even out the spacing of the UVs.
There are two methods for relaxing UVs:
- Smooth UV Tool: Lets you view the affected UVs as you relax them. This is useful for making precise visual adjustments. You can use this tool to relax either the entire UV shell or only a subset of UVs on it.
- Optimize command: Lets you have more control over some aspects of the relax process by adjusting the Optimize UVs Options.
