Autodesk® FBX® is a file format that can be used by most of today's 3D authoring software.
The .fbx file format enables the interchange of 3D data between 3D applications. Thus, files can be exported from Autodesk Moldflow as .fbx files and imported into other programs, such as Showcase, for photorealistic rendering.
2D or 3D drawings saved in this format maintain the full fidelity and functionality of the original file and can be manipulated by multiple programs, including Showcase, Inventor Publisher and Maya. With this feature, it is possible to generate .stl geometry of 3D tetras at specific time steps from a Fill result, by importing the .fbx file into 3ds Max and saving it as a .stl file.
