To Trace the Outer Contour of an Enclosed Area, Segment by Segment (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

1. Click Home tabConstruction panel drop-downContour Trace. Find
2. At the Command prompt, select Outside.
3. Select the objects that form the closed loop.
4. Press ENTER.
5. If you want to use any entities on underlying layers as additional boundaries, select them.
6. Press ENTER again.
7. In the Message dialog box, click No.

   The system traces the contour, pausing at each vertex to mark it.

8. Each time the system pauses type Y and press ENTER. Repeat until the entire contour is drawn.
   Note:

   To remove the vertex markers, type REDRAW at the command prompt and press ENTER.
