Content Center Editor dialog box

Use the Content Center Editor dialog box to edit data saved in Content Center user libraries.

Important: To access the Content Center libraries (Desktop Content), they must be 1) installed and 2) enabled for use in the active project.

Ribbon: Manage tab Content Center panel Editor

The Content Center Editor dialog box displays the following panels and display options:

Library View
Defines the view of the library content. Select Merged View to display content from all Content Center libraries, or select a library name to display only content that belongs to the selected library.
Category panel
Displays the structure of available categories. When you select a category, its descendent categories or part/feature families are displayed.

Click the drop-down arrow to switch between Part and Feature display.

Searches through the entire Library, or selected categories. You can search for a text string, or define searching criteria for family properties or category parameters.

Menu options

View
Tree View switches Tree View pane on or off.

Family Preview displays the family table in the Preview panel.

Thumbnail displays items in the thumbnail view.

List displays simple list of items.

Detail List displays list of items with detailed information.

Edit
Publish Part Runs the Batch Publish process.

File Naming Edits the filename scheme for the selected family or families. Available only in the Merged View.

Copy to copies the selected family or category to a read/write library. This option is available only if you have a read/write library.

Note: Copy To option is used when you must edit a part family that is contained in a read-only library. After you copy a part family to a read/write library, the read/write copy of the family is viewed in Content Center. If you delete the read/write copy, the original read-only family shows up again.

Category Properties Displays properties of the selected category in the Category Properties dialog box.

Create Category Creates a Category/subcategory in the selected category.

Delete Category Deletes the selected category. Only empty categories (no families or subcategories) can be deleted.

Publish Part calls the Publish command.

Family Table Opens Family Table and allows modification of the Family table of the selected read/write family.

Family Properties Opens Family Properties dialog box and allows modification of the family properties of a selected read/write family.

Delete Family Deletes the selected read/write family.

Material Guide Adds new materials for selected families.

Tools
Search activates Search.

Favorites activates Favorites.

Filters switches Filters on or off, selection of filter and enables new filter definition.

Language Setting selects the language to use in the Content Center.

History switches the History view on or off. Displays last 20 used parts in the Category and Family collection pane.

Refresh Content Refreshes the Content Center dialog box with current content from the library.

Update Content launches the Update Tool. Use the Update Tool to update user libraries.

Toolbar

The Content Center toolbar includes the following commands:
Back
Displays the previous page.
Up one Category Level
Displays the page one level up in the category structure.
Forward
Displays the next page.
Search
Switches Search mode on or off.
Favorites
Switches Favorites pane on or off. Available only when Merged View is on.
Filters
Switches Filters pane on or off.
Create Category
Creates a subcategory in the selected category.
Category Properties
Displays properties of the selected category in the Category Properties dialog box.
Delete Category
Deletes the selected Category.
Family Properties
Opens Family Properties dialog box, and allows modifications of the selected Family.
Family Table
Opens Family Table and allows modification of Family table of the selected family.
Delete Family
Deletes the selected Family.
Copy To
Copies the data of a selected Family or Category to a read/write Library.
Save Copy As
Copies a selected family to a read/write library.
Material Guide
Runs the Material Guide that adds materials to the selected content.

Switches the Category Tree pane on or off.
Family Preview
Switches On/Off the Family Preview pane.

Context menu options

The context menu presents selections for operations on the selected component in the Content Center dialog box. The available options depend on the selected item.

Category context menu:
Category Properties
Opens the Category Properties dialog box.
Create Category
Creates a Category. Available only if a read/write library is selected in Library View.
File Naming
Edits the filename expression for the selected category in the File Naming dialog box. Available only if a read/write library is selected in Library View.
Move To
Moves the selected category to another read/write library. Available only if a user read/write library is selected from the Library View list.
Copy to
Copies the selected category to a read/write library.
Material Guide
Runs the Material Guide that adds materials to the selected content.
Copy Category Structure to
Copies the selected category structure to a read/write library.
Delete Category
Deletes the selected category. Available only if a read/write library is selected in Library View. Not available for Merged View.
Add to Favorites
Adds the selected category to the Favorites list. Available only in the Merged View.
Family context menu:
Family properties
Opens the Family Properties dialog box.
Family Table
Opens the Family Table dialog box.
Material Guide
Runs the Material Guide that adds materials to the selected content.
Replace Family Template
Replaces the family template file saved in the Content Center library with a new file. Available only if a read/write library is selected in Library View.
File Naming
Edits the filename expression for the selected family in the File Naming dialog box. Available only if a read/write library is selected in Library View.
Move To
Moves the selected family to another read/write library. Available only if a user read/write library is selected from the Library View list.
Copy To
Copies the data of the selected family to a read/write library.
Note: Use the Copy To option if you want to edit the data for a family that is contained in a read-only library. After you copy a family to a read/write library, the read/write copy of the family is viewed in Content Center. If you delete the read/write copy, the original read-only family shows up again.
Save Copy As
Copies the selected family into a read/write library. Displays the Save Copy As dialog box so that you could edit the copying settings.
Break Link
Removes the link between a family copied by Save Copy As and the parent family. Use to make the copied family independent. Available only for Save Copy As families with link.
Suppress Link
Temporarily suppresses the link between a family copied by Save Copy As or Copy To and the parent family. Use to defer the synchronization of the copied family in the Update Tool. Available only for families created by Copy To or Save Copy As with link.
Delete Family
Deletes the selected Family. Available only if a read/write library is selected in Library View.
Add to Favorites
Adds the selected family to the Favorites list. Available only in the Merged View.
