Tool Post Properties - Tool Head dialog (PartMaker)

Use the Tool Post Properties, Tool Head dialog to view, or change, details of a gang tool post.

To display this dialog, click the Properties button alongside the tool head on the Machine Data dialog.

The following settings are available:

Definition — Select how you want to define the tool head for the machine:

• Parametric — Select this option to create a parametric representation of the tool head from the values in the Dimensions fields.
• Solid Model — Select this option to use a solid model to represent the tool head. Click the Model Data button to select the model you want to use from the Model Data dialog.
• Components — Click to display the Components dialog, where you can specify which components of the tool head are displayed during Full Machine Simulation.

Turning Insert Location — Select the side of the shank on which the turning tool insert sits. Your selection will apply to all turning tools that sit on this tool post. If you want a specific tool to face the opposite direction, set the spindle direction for the tool to ccw in the Tools data file.

Pivot-Point (P) — Specify the X, Y, and Z distance from tool head edge to the center of rotation.

Dimensions

• Z-Length (W) — Enter the length of the tool head along the Z-axis.
• Height (H) — Enter the height of the tool head.

Home Position — Specify the coordinates (Xh, Yh, Zh) of the tool head at home position.

Tool Orientation at the Tool Change — Select the orientation of the tool head during the tool change.

Tool Block

• Cylinder — Select this option if the shape of the tool block is a cylinder.
  • Tool Collet Diameter (Cd) — Enter the diameter of the tool collet on the tool head.
  • Tool Collet Length (Cl) — Enter the length of the tool collet on the tool head.
• Box — Select this option if the shape of the tool block is a box.
  • Tool Block Size (B) — Enter the size of the cubical tool block.

Travel Limits — Specify the coordinates (Xh1, Yh1, Zh1, Xh2, Yh2, Zh2) of the travel limits.
