Use the Tool Post Properties, Gang dialog to view, or change, details of a gang tool post.
To display this dialog, click the Properties button alongside a Gang 1 or Gang 2 tool post on the Machine Data dialog.
The following settings are available:
Definition — Specify how you want to define the gang slide tool post for the machine:
-
Parametric — Select to create a parametric representation of the gang from the data contained in the Dimensions fields.
-
Solid Model — Select to use a solid model to represent the gang.
-
Model Data — Click to display the Model Data dialog, where you can select the model you want to use.
-
Components — Click to display the Components dialog, where you can specify which components of the gang are displayed during Full Machine Simulation.
-
Rotary Attachment — Click to display the Rotary Attachment dialog, where you can specify details of a rotary attachment for this gang. This button is available only in PartMaker/SwissCAM for gang tool posts that can rotate around the B-axis, as specified on the Machine Data dialog.
Tool Locations — Use these options to choose how the location of the holder on the gang is specified:
-
Automatically Calculated — Select if you want PartMaker to calculate the location using the data specified in the Dimensions, Slide Orientation and Tool Numbering Direction fields.
-
User Defined — Select if you want to specify the location, then click the Tool Post Layout button to enter the data in the Tool Post Layout dialog.
Tool Numbering Direction
-
Negative — Select if tool numbers increase going along the negative Y-axis.
-
Positive — Select if tool numbers increase going along the positive Y-axis.
Home Position — Specify the coordinates (Xh, Yh, Zh) of the gang slide at home position.
Turning Insert Location — Select the side (Front or Back) of the shank on which the turning tool insert sits. Your selection applies to all turning tools that sit on this tool post. If you want a specific tool to face the opposite direction, set the spindle direction for the tool to ccw in the Tools data file.
Dimensions
-
Tool Distance (Dt) — Enter the distance between tools on the gang slide.
-
Z-Length (W) — Enter the length of the gang along Z-Axis.
-
Height (H) — Enter the height of the gang slide.
-
Tool Collet Diameter (Cd) — Enter the diameter of the tool collet on the gang slide.
-
Tool Collet Length (Cl) — Enter the length of the tool collet on the gang slide.
Lock Gang1 and Gang2 — Select this option to specify that the Gang1 and Gang2 are locked together, so they move together during simulation.
Distance Between Gangs (Dg) — Enter the distance between Gang1 and Gang2.
Travel Limits — Specify the coordinates (Xh1, Yh1, Zh1, Xh2, Yh2, Zh2) that define the travel limits of the tool post.
