When you select a tool, PowerMill displays the tool dialog with the Tip tab that is specific to the tool. Each tool type has a specific Tip tab; for example, the Tip tab for a ball nosed tool and the Tip tab for a routing tool.
If you are creating a turning tool PowerMill displays the Insert tab.
To display a Tool dialog:
When creating a tool, as a minimum you need to specify the geometry of the tool's tip using the Tip tab, or insert using the Insert tab for turning tools. Use the other tabs on the dialog (Shank, Holder, Control points, Holder profile, Cutting data, User Defined Settings, Description) to specify the geometry of additional portions of the tool assembly, as well as to specify additional options and information about the tool.
