Dependencies Folder

Each Generative Design study type has a Dependencies folder, which contains the Dynamo packages used by the graph and other information for the study type.

For Generative Design, a study type consists of the following:

• DYN file. This Dynamo graph contains the logic needed to explore a design challenge and generate design alternatives.
• Dependencies folder. This folder stores more information for the study type. It must reside in the same location as the DYN file.

The Dependencies folder is created by the Generative Design Tools extension of Dynamo when you use a graph to create a study type.

The Dependencies folder contains the following:

• info.json: the study type description that appears in the Create Study dialog
• study_type.png: the thumbnail image that appears in the Create Study dialog
• packages: a folder containing the Dynamo packages used by the graph
• definitions: a folder containing any exported custom nodes

When the DYN file and its associated Dependencies folder reside in the same location, the study type can display in the Create Study dialog when you point to that location (using Choose Folder).

If the Dependencies folder is missing, the study type does not display in the Create Study dialog. Move the Dependencies folder to the correct location, or use Dynamo to create the folder.
