AutoCAD Mechanical toolset provides a utility known as the shaft generator, which enables you to draw solid and hollow shafts.
You can make iterative changes such as:
- Add cylindrical or conical sections
- Add features such as center holes, chamfers, grooves, fillets, threads, profiles and wrench fittings
- Add standard parts such as bearings, gears, retaining rings and seals
The shaft generator has the following characteristics:
- Creates a shaft from left to right, using different sections. AutoCAD Mechanical toolset positions these sections automatically one after the other.
- You can have the side view of the shaft shown automatically or view different cross-sections for various cutting planes. When you update one view of a shaft, the shaft generator automatically updates the other views.
- You can use the AMPOWERCOPY command (Power Copy) to copy a selected section of a shaft. You can move the copy on the shaft to the intended position. With non-axially symmetrical parts, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset can mirror the respective parts. If you move the copy to a shaft section, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset prompts you if it is to insert or overdraw the new section..
