To Edit Shaft Segments (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)
Double-click the centerline of the shaft to edit.
In the Shaft Generator dialog box, select the Edit option.
Select the section to be edited.
The corresponding command is started, or a dialog box displays.
Note:
If you alter the section length, you have to specify on which side this shaft length alteration is to be made. Therefore, you must specify the fixed end of the section or the shaft. You determine the fixed end of the shaft (left or right) in the Shaft Generator Configuration dialog box. You can get your bearings from the shaft symbol at the upper right display margin.
When you edit a shaft section with a groovea chamfer, a radius, and/or an interrupt, the following convention applies: Modifications are made to the same section during editing, if your measurements coincide with that section or the adjacent section, or if you do not exceed the measurement of the shaft section. If you do not observe these conditions, modification is terminated.
When you edit the length of a section, special circumstances may arise:
If the groove and radius will be overwritten as a result of the length alteration, you lose one of the modifying commands. Note that radius and chamfer have a higher positional value than groove and interrupt.
If, after you alter the length of the Cone section, the smaller diameter d2 < 0, then the slopeof the cone changes to d2=
If the section has been broken manually, the following message appears:
Segment #n has been manually changed.
Do you really want to edit segment?
If you choose OK, the section is redrawn, but your manual changes are deleted. The Lengthen command is an exception. Changes made with that command are recognized by the Shaft Generator.
