Cables

Open the Cables dialog using either of the following methods:

This option allows for attributing cable properties to structure elements. It is available from:

• Click Geometry menu > Properties > Cables.
• Click .

The Cables dialog lets you assign cable properties to structure elements. It has:

• active list - List of user-defined cables. These cables can be assigned to the structure bars.
• active selection - Displays the currently selected structure bars. Any cable from the active list can be assigned to the selected members.
• standard buttons - Apply, Close, Help.

The active list provides information about the label and the type of the defined cable.

At the top of the dialog:

• - Adds a new cable type (New Cable Definition).
• - Deletes the selected cable type from the active list.
• , , and - Displays the list of active cables as: large icons, small icons, a short list, or a long list.
• - Deletes all cable types that are not in the designed structure from the active list.
• - Opens the Label Manager dialog.

Similar to the dialog for defining sections or supports, the process of assigning cable properties to structure elements is divided into 2 steps:

• Cable type definition

  If the active cable list is empty or a new cable type is to be added to the active list, click New cable :

  • If none of the cable types is selected; clicking opens the dialog for a new cable type definition. The first tab is activated with the fields previously defined (except for the LABEL field) or the default parameters are set.
  • If none of the cables is selected; clicking opens the dialog for a new cable type definition. A tab appropriate to the new cable type. is displayed. All fields, except for LABEL, are filled according to the cable type selected.

  You can also open the dialog for a new cable definition by double-clicking on the element from the active cable list. The New Cable dialog opens on the tab respectively to the cable type and all fields are filled according to the cable type selected. After changing the required parameters, the cable is added (updated) to the active list by clicking ADD or pressing <ENTER>. If you do not change the label, an appropriate warning displays (as in the case of a new cable definition). This option in the dialog lets you change cable properties.

• Cable definition in a structure.

To delete a cable from the structure:

1. Click on the active cable list,
2. Select an object in the structure you want to delete the cable from

You cannot modify this type of cable; it is assigned the same way as the cable properties are to a structure element.

The symbol of the cable displays after you add it.
