Section lines determine what is displayed in the section results.
Section line defines the extents of the section that you extract from the building model. When you draw a straight or jogged section line through a model, every object in the model whose bounding box overlaps the bounding box of the section volume is included in the selection set.
Once you finish drawing the section line, you are prompted to place the result. You can select a point in the drawing and click to place the section result. If you want to specify the result type, choose your selection set, select a different display set, or specify the placement using the X,Y, Z coordinates, use the dialog option to place the result.
Use Regenerate to include or remove objects from the section result. This opens the Generate Section/Elevation dialog box where you can use Select Objects to pick and choose individual objects to show or hide in the section result. Since this selection method is by per object, it does not work per style or per object type.
When working with large models, you can edit a small section of the model precisely, by drawing a section line and creating a section result of the area you need to edit. Select the section result and using Edit Live Section, edit the geometry in the section result. Nested external references and blocks that may be included in the section result can also be edited. Ensure that you save the changes to the external references and blocks when prompted. Once you are done, click the Edit In View button, the edit live section is closed and the building model geometry is updated.
