Review the Re-melt zone result

In this task you review the Re-melt zone, overmolded components (overmolding) result.

  1. Click the Re-melt zone, overmolded components (overmolding) result in the Study Tasks pane.

    remelt result

This result shows places where the first component may not have completely frozen, or has re-melted, when the second component is injected.

  2. Rotate the model. Notice the re-melt zone is at the interface of the two components.

A significant amount of material melts as the 2nd shot is injected. The melt temperature of the second component (200 ºC) is sufficiently high that it heats the material in the first component above its transition temperature (130 ºC).

If the too much of the first shot material remelts then you may need to change the processing conditions or select different materials.
