About Modifying Balloon Leaders (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

When you create a balloon, the leader follows the default settings specified in the current drafting standard.

However, in the drawing, you can select a balloon and override the default arrowhead setting with another standard dependant arrowhead. For information on how to customize the default settings, see the Configuration and Setup Guide.

When a balloon leader is attached to a component (part or assembly), when the component is moved, the balloon moves with it. The balloon leader can only be attached to one object. If you want to attach the leader to a different component, you must detach it first.

The system gives you the ability to add more than one leader to a single balloon. You also get the ability to add or delete leader segments. If you select an internal leader segment, all its successors are deleted. The system provides you a visual indication of the part of the leader to be deleted by highlighting it. If you remove all leader segments, a standalone balloon is created.

With custom balloons, you get the additional option of being able to override the position the leader connects to the custom balloon.
