Use the Point-Cloud tab > Edit panel > Paste as New Probed options to create geometric items from probe points on the Clipboard.
Note: The Paste as New Probed options are available only when creating inspections for CNC and Manual machines.
To create a probed item:
- Select the points you want to use to create the item.
- Click an option in the Point-Cloud tab > Edit panel > Paste as New Probed menu to select the type of item you want to create. You can choose from:
- If you select a 2D item, such as a circle, the Reference Plane for Pasted Item dialog is displayed. Select:
- Create plane using current selection of points to create a new reference plane for the item.
- Use existing plane, and select the plane you want to use as the reference plane for the item.
Click OK to close the dialog.
- A feature dialog is displayed to show the name of the item and the number of points you selected. Choose an entry in the Material side list to specify the side from which the item was probed. Select:
- Hole (ID) to probe the item from the inside.
- Boss (OD) to probe the item from the outside.
- Not Specified to leave the probing direction unconstrained.
- Click
to create the item. When: - a geometric group is open or selected in the inspection sequence, the item is added to that group.
- a geometric group is not selected, the item is added to the last geometric group in the inspection sequence.
- the inspection sequence contains no geometric groups, PowerInspect creates a geometric group and adds the item to it.
