Point-Cloud Group dialog reference

Use the Point-Cloud Group dialog to specify the details of a Point Cloud group.

To display the dialog, double-click the group's name in the inspection sequence, or select its entry and press the Alt+Enter keys.

The dialog contains the following settings:

Name — Enter a name for the item. The name is used in the inspection sequence, in the Report and Info tabs, and when referencing the item in other items.

Output in report — Select this check box to include the item in the report.

Visible — Select to display the contents of the group in the CAD view when the Definition level of the inspection sequence is selected. This setting overrides the individual Visible settings of items in the group.

Coordinate system — Specify the default alignment for point clouds created in this group. If you want to use a specific alignment or datum, select its entry in the list. To specify the alignment during an inspection, select <Active Alignment>. You can then change the alignment using the Active Alignment list on the Alignments & Datums tab or by adding Active Alignment items to the inspection sequence.

Default tolerances — Specify tolerances to be used as the defaults when creating point clouds. Type the values in the Low Tol or High Tol boxes, or click to display the Positional Tolerance dialog to create and select tolerance bands. Select the Update existing point clouds check box to apply changes to point clouds already in the group. Click Reset to revert to the default values specified in the Measure Parameters dialog.

Clipping plane — Reject acquired points below a specified plane during scanning. Select Use a clipping plane to limit data acquisition, and then choose a plane from the list. If you choose an unmeasured plane, PowerInspect asks you to measure the plane when you play a Point Cloud item.

Click OK to close the dialog and save your changes.

If you are creating a group, PowerInspect adds it to the inspection sequence.

Note: Point Cloud groups are available only for CNC and Manual inspections.
