Define Calculation Views for the Project

Specify the floor plans or ceiling plans used for calculation for each level of the Project.

Definable calculation views are necessary for multiple views that represent a single level in Revit. You must define the view that will generate Areabook data.

  1. Open a project with defined rooms.
  2. Click Quantification tab Areabook Extension panel(Calculation Settings).

    The Calculation Settings dialog displays.

  3. Select the Calculation Views tab.

A list of the existing levels displays with the corresponding views Areabook uses for calculation.

  4. Review and change each floor as needed.
  5. Click OK to proceed with changes.
Note: If calculation views are changed after a performed area calculation, it is necessary to recalculate the areas.
If Select Preserve area calculation data when changing calculation view is deselected and calculation views have been changed, manual changes are lost if you proceed. This includes:
  • Tags for rooms, room groups, floor areas, and subareas.
  • Subarea contours under stairs and roofs
  • Height lines
  • Dissections
  • IDs.

Definable calculation views are necessary for the Revit tools to duplicate views. This allows different views for a single level. In this case, you must define in which view to generate Areabook data. It is not suggested to have multiple instances of Areabook data in different views.
