About Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D

Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D allows project teams to collaborate on Civil 3D data shortcut projects in Forma Data Management. Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D is available as an entitlement to Forma Design Collaboration subscribers.

Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D workflows

In this example, four project team members who work in different locations are collaborating on a data shortcut project in Forma Data Management.

Collaborator Workflow

A surveyor using Forma Design Collaboration and Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D.

The surveyor:
  1. Creates a new drawing in Civil 3D and saves the drawing in the Forma Data Management project.
  2. Creates a surface and a data shortcut to the surface.

A roadway designer using Forma Design Collaboration and Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D.

The carriageway designer:
  1. Creates a new drawing in Civil 3D and saves the drawing in the Forma Data Management project.
  2. Creates a data shortcut reference to the surface that the surveyor created in the project.
  3. Creates a corridor model and a data shortcut to the corridor.

An engineering technician using Forma Design Collaboration and Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D.

The engineering technician:
  1. Creates a new drawing in Civil 3D and saves the drawing in the Forma Data Management project.
  2. Creates a data shortcut reference to the surface that the surveyor created in the project.
  3. Creates a data shortcut reference to the corridor that the carriageway designer created in the project.
  4. Creates section sheets in the drawing based on the surface and corridor.

A project manager using Forma Data Management, without Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D.

The project manager:
  1. Opens any of the drawings created by the surveyor, road designer or engineering technician in Forma Data Management.
  2. Reviews the drawing and adds issues and markup.
