About Cloud Storage Providers

A cloud storage provider is a company that offers services for storing data on the internet. They manage and operate data storage as a service, which is delivered on-demand with just-in-time capacity and costs, and eliminates buying and managing your own data storage infrastructure. This gives you agility, global scale and durability, with “anytime, anywhere” data access.

Adding Files from Another Cloud Storage Providers

When you need to add files from another cloud storage provider (such as Box, OneDrive, or even email attachments) to your Docs workspace using Desktop Connector, follow this best practice to avoid errors and failed transfers:

  1. Download or save the files to a local (non-cloud) drive location, such as your desktop or a folder like C:\Download\Tempworkspace.
    1. Downloading files directly from other cloud providers into your Docs workspace using Desktop Connector is not recommended and can lead to failures.
  2. Wait until the download or transfer is completely finished.
  3. Move or copy the files from your local drive into the desired Desktop Connector location.

If you skip this step and try to copy or move files directly from another cloud provider, the transfer may be incomplete, leading to failed jobs and potential data loss. Following this best practice ensures your files are ready and available to sync.
