Viewing and Testing a Model

View your base design and accessories

Use the configuration page for testing your design.

  1. In the Administrator view Designs tab, select the Use Accessories checkbox to include your accessories on the configuration page (viewable by the end user).
Note: End users do not have access to the Administrator view.
  2. On the Designs tab, select the icon next to the design.
The design displays in the configuration page.
  3. Adjust the dimensions and design view orientation in the page displayed.
  4. Select the Accessories button to display your accessories below the base design.
Tip: Once you have dropped an accessory onto your base design, hold down the Shift key to prevent the accessory from connecting to an object in the design.
  5. To return to the Administrator view, select Administrator view from the drop-down menu under your name.

Design view orientation

Click the face of the ViewCube and edges, corners, and rotation arrows to change the orientation. Click the down arrow to select either Orthographic or Perspective from the drop-down menu.

Take a snapshot

Viewable only by the Administrator.

Select Take a snapshot from the ViewCube drop-down menu.

The saved thumbnail displays with the part name in the catalog for your clients. Thumbnails are saved in an Album on the Designs tab.

Change model parameters and dimensions

  1. Select the Options button from the upper left of your screen.
  2. Change one of the parameters to a different value. When you move the selection cursor to the next parameter, the model updates automatically.
  3. Parameters, driven by Inventor parameters, including parameters that are marked as Key, are read by default.

  4. Set the precision for the length and angle units for the uploaded document using the Document Properties dialog box in Inventor.
Note: When working with models and parameters, some entities, such as surface bodies, texture-based image enhancements from the Materials library, and features you create in an assembly, display only when the image is rendered. The rendered image takes a few minutes to display.

Notes about model displays

During interaction with the display on the client Web browser, 3D solid bodies display.

When interaction stops, after a short delay, the updated rendered image displays textures, materials, transparency, nonsolid, and non-3D elements present in the Inventor model. It does not show work geometry present in the Inventor model.

Thumbnail images are created from the same process.

Model entities that do not display

When viewing uploaded models, the following entities do not display:
  • Origin planes, origin axes, and origin points
  • User workplanes, work axes, and work points
