In CADmep, you can save all or part of a job to a .CAJ, .ESJ or .MAJ file.
Tip: In addition to the information below, you should also review the Exporting to CAMduct & ESTmep Fundamental Training video.
Save to a CAJ File (CAJOUT Command)
The CAM (CAJOUT) command outputs selected items, or an entire model, to a .MAJ file, and automatically updates item statuses according to how the Change Status After Export To Cam option is set in CAD Settings. For more information, see CAD Settings and Item Statuses.
This command is useful when you want item statuses to automatically be updated when the resulting .maj file is created. For example, item statuses could be changed from "Design Phase" to "To Manufacturing".
To output selected items, or an entire model to a .maj file, and automatically update statuses:
You are prompted to select objects.
The Save Job As dialog displays.
The job is saved as a .maj file to the specified location and with the specified file name. In the resulting .maj file, item statuses are updated according to how the Change Status After Export To Cam option is set in CAD Settings.
Save to an ESJ or MAJ File
You can output selected items, or an entire model, to an .ESJ or .MAJ file, and like the above (CAJOUT) command, automatically update item statuses according to how the Change Status After Export To Cam option is set in CAD Settings.
MAJ File Format - A .MAJ file is also referred to as a job file. Both ESTmep and CAMduct can import the .MAJ file type. The MAJ file format enables future updating of project data, such as costing information, within ESTmep. MAJ files have a dynamic link to the database. For information on importing .MAJ files, see Open Jobs.
ESJ File Format - The .ESJ file format is also called an Archived Job file. ESJ files have a static link to the database.
While both formats allow the updating of project data, the ESJ format contains a snapshot or static copy of the current database at the time that the file is saved. Any changes to the database are not reflected in an ESJ file, but are updated in a MAJ file.
Even though the ESJ file is a snapshot, it can be updated by directly editing the database stored within it.
To output selected items, or an entire model to an .ESJ or .MAJ file, and automatically update statuses:
You are prompted to select objects.
The Save Job As dialog displays.
The job is saved as an .ESJ or .MAJ file to the specified location and with the specified file name. In the resulting file, item statuses are updated according to how the Change Status After Export To Cam option is set in CAD Settings.
Save MAJ File for Revit (CreateRevitMAJ) Command
The Save MAJ File for Revit command (CreateRevitMaj) lets you save an entire model, or selected items, to a *.maj file without changing any item statuses. This is useful for models that are intended to be later opened in Revit.
This command is useful when you do not want item statuses to be updated, or affected at all, when the resulting .maj file is created. For example, if the item statuses are set to "Design Phase" before being saved to the .maj file, when using this command, the resulting item statuses are unchanged. This can be useful when the resulting .maj file is intended to be opened in Revit.

To create a MAJ file without changing item statuses:
The Save Job As dialog displays.
The job is saved as a .maj file to the specified location and with the specified file name. In this resulting .maj file, item statuses are not updated.
