Activity 3: Move components

In this activity, you move related symbols of components on the canvas by their position value in Schematic design. This allows you to align components vertically or horizontally.

Prerequisites

• Activity 2 is complete.

Steps

1. In the Design Manager panel, on the Browser tab, Click Sheet 1/4.

2. In the View drop-down list select Components.

3. Then in the Components Search box, enter C*

4. Hold Ctrl and Click C228, C222, C229, and C224 from list. The capacitors are shown highlighted in the black frame on the canvas.

5. In the Inspector panel, in the Properties of Part group, see the shared Position value of 7.1 inch. This is Y value that indicates vertical alignment. You can also see this in the Selected Objects group, in the Y1 column.

   

6. In the Properties of Parts group change the Position value to 7.2 inch and press Enter. See how all four capacitors move upward on the canvas.

7. Click Undo to reverse this change.

   Note: As an alternative exercise you can change Angle value to 180, then back to 90.
