Tutorial: Mechanical to Electronics Workflows

Many products today have circuit boards in them and mechanical design teams and electronics design teams must work together. One of the areas of collaboration is in the size and shape of the PCB board itself. In this tutorial, you start with a mechanical design representing the enclosure for a PCB, define the size of the PCB, and push the PCB to the electronics design. Once done with the board design, you then integrate the PCB board into a multiple component mechanical design.

In this tutorial, you do the following:

When done with this tutorial, you have a PCB board integrated it to a mechanical design.

Prerequisites

  1. You should have completed the following electronics tutorials :

    1. Create a schematic design
    2. Create a PCB layout
  2. You should do this tutorial in a new project or new folder within an existing project. Decide what option you want to do.

    1. To do the tutorial in a new project, open the Data Panel, if necessary, data panel icon click New Project and enter the project Mech to Ecad Tutorial to create a project folder.
    2. To do the tutorial in a new folder, open the Data Panel, if necessary, data panel icon and navigate to the location of the new folder. Click the New Folder button, and enter the name Mech to Ecad Tutorial to create a folder.
