Usually you create a plane to use for flat geometry. This is so that when you create flats as part of a fabric draping strategy, they can be placed on this plane. This is useful for keeping flat patterns out of the way of your model in the application window. You might also create a plane to be used later in Autodesk
TruFiber as a safety plane.
- Select one of the following in the
TruPlan browser.
- Geometry folder
- Layup
- Sequence
- Ply
- Click
Plane
on the
TruPlan ribbon.
- Enter coordinates for the plane in the Plane dialog box and click OK.
-
Origin: The start point for the plane.
-
Direction 1: The direction of one edge of the plane from the Origin point.
-
Direction 2: The direction of the second edge of the plane from the Origin point.
-
Offset Distance: When you create a plane, the coordinates of the previous plane you created are used. Change the Offset Distance to give the plane a different Z value from the previous plane. This enables you to easily avoid creating the plane in the exact same position as the previous plane.
To use this plane as the flattening plane for a fabric draping strategy, create a layup or open an existing layup and select the plane in the Layup dialog box.
