Do hub settings affect project transfer?
Yes. If Project Contributors are not allowed on the destination hub, all Project Members MUST be added to the destination hub as Team Members before transferring the project. If not, the transfer will fail.
Who can transfer projects?
To be able to transfer a project from one hub to another, you must have appropriate permissions. To transfer a project from a Free to a Team hub, you must be a
- Hub Admin on the Free hub AND
- A team member on the destination Team hub
To transfer a project from a Team hub to a different Team hub, you must be a
- Hub Admin of the source hub
- Project Admin of the project being transferred AND
- A team member on the destination Team hub
What happens to a project when it is transferred?
Regardless of the type of project on the source hub, a new Secret project with the same project name is created on the destination hub. The project will not be available on the source hub. Changes made to project content after the transfer is initiated will not be available on the new hub.
Currently, no notifications are sent to Project Members about the transfer. Project Administrators will need to inform Project Members about the transfer and provide the url for the new hub. After the transfer is complete, the project will not be available on the source hub.
What happens to Project Members?
Project Members in your project may or may not be currently registered users on the destination hub.
If you are transferring your project to a hub that does not allow Project Contributors, be sure to add all your Project Members as Team Members on the destination hub before transferring your project.
If you are transferring your project to a hub that allows Project Contributors, the role of Project Members on the destination hub will override their role on the source hub. Project Members who are unregistered on the destination hub at the time of transfer will be added as Project Contributors to the Project.
