The Horizontal Regression Analysis Vista allows review and refinement of the data for a generated alignment.
Working in the Horizontal Regression Analysis Vista
The Horizontal Regression Analysis Vista offers a means to review and enhance the results of the generated alignment. The vista displays from the Horizontal Regression Setup dialog box. The following tools are available to better navigate and visualize the data.
Graphs
- Zoom. Scroll the mouse wheel up to zoom in and down to zoom out.
- Pan. Left-click hold and move the cursor left and right to pan zoomed graphs.
- Segment Data. Hold the cursor over a segment (top graph) to view a tooltip with its station and measurement information.
- Segment Select. Select a segment to see it's highlighted row in the Horizontal Regression Segments Table to the right.
Place the cursor in the graph area to:
Tables
- Left-click and drag column headers to reorganize their display order.
- Place the cursor over a column header and click
to access other display options.
- Sort by ascending and descending order.
- Pin the column to the left or right of the table.
- Filter by column data.
- Quickly hide a column.
- Manage column visibility.
- De-noise Data
-
This slider controls the smoothing filter thresholds for generating the alignment. Move the slider to the left for less smoothing and to the right for more smoothing.
- Spiral Sensitivity
-
This slider controls the sensitivity when fitting a spiral model to known data. Move the slider to the left for more sensitivity and to the right for less sensitivity.
- Max Radius
-
Specifies the largest acceptable radius of curves that are created from the input data.
Max Radius default values:
- 5000 meters for metric
- 15000 feet for imperial
Horizontal Regression Segments Graph
The graph at the top of the vista displays the regression segments of the horizontal regression alignment. This graph plots the data for curvature and radius to stations. The Horizontal Regression Segments Table to the right contains the segment data.
- Red. Tangent
- Blue. Arc
- Green. Spiral
Placing the cursor over a segment will display its current data information as a tooltip at the top of the graph. Selecting a segment will highlight its representative row in the Horizontal Regression Table to the right.
Horizontal Regression Segments Table
- Segment
-
Displays the horizontal regression segment type: either tangent, arc, or spiral.
- Start
-
Displays the start station of the horizontal regression segment.
- End
-
Displays the end station of the horizontal regression segment.
- Length
-
Displays the length of the horizontal regression segment.
- Radius
-
Displays the radius of the horizontal regression segment.
Note: Tangents are specified as Infinity. Individual Arcs radius values can be manually adjusted. - Avg. Offset
-
Displays the average offset of the horizontal regression segment from its source entity.
- Max Offset
-
Displays the maximum offset of the horizontal regression segment from its source entity.
Horizontal Regression Points Table
- Data Point
-
Sequential number generated in the order in which the regression points were generated.
- Station on Entity
-
Displays the station of the data point from the horizontal regression entity.
- Northing
-
Displays the Northing value of the point that is closest to the regression point on the entity.
- Easting
-
Displays the Easting value of the point that is closest to the regression point on the entity.
- N on Entity
-
Displays the Northing ordinate from the horizontal regression entity.
- E on Entity
-
Displays the Easting ordinate from the horizontal regression entity.
- Offset
-
Displays the distance between the survey data point and the horizontal regression entity.
- Offset Side
-
Displays which side of the regression point is offset from the horizontal regression entity.
- Horizontal Navigator
-
It is placed at the bottom of the page. It helps you move from left to right on the alignment.
