Create Asset Groups Using Custom Setup

Configure asset groups by creating queries and arranging these into a tree structure. You can query any data you have available in Info360 Asset.

For example, you could create groups based on asset condition, asset risk grades, and so on.

Tip: To save some manual work, if you plan to use material, diameter, and/or year laid in your group setup, we recommend starting with the automatic setup (which will build some base queries/groups based on these attributes) and then editing the configuration to add further queries.

Add queries

To split your assets into groups, you must create queries, each with a True and False path. You can add as many queries as needed.

Queries for asset groups are built in the same way as queries for rehab decision trees. Learn how to Create Queries and Rules.

You'll also need to join together your queries and groups. See how in the example below.

Add group names

Once you've created your queries, you can create and assign names to the resulting group of assets.

To do this:

  1. Click on + Group.
  2. From the drop-down, select Add New Group. Then click the Add Group button.
  3. Enter a group name and description, then click Add.

Notes:

  • New queries and groups always get added in the top-left of the canvas.
  • Since each query requires a True and a False path, you will likely need to create some "Other" groups in order to complete the configuration.

Review and run the tree

When you save the tree, you will get a preview of the number of assets per group. Once you are happy with the configuration, you can run the tree and view the asset groups.

Example: Adding custom queries and groups

In this example, we have used the automatic setup to generate groups based on material and diameter, and will now add custom queries to break the Cast Iron groups up into pre-1930 and post-1930 installation.
