To create a default tooltip for a point of interest layer

When specifying defaults for the tooltip text and proximity distance, note that the application will always use the most specific values it finds. For example, if you specify a tooltip in the Stack for a specific point of interest (POI) asset, this text will override the default tooltip specified for the POI data source or POI layer. If you specify a tooltip for a POI data source, it will override the default tooltip text for the POI layer.

  1. Click Manage glyph Model glyph model explorer in the Toolbar to display the Model Explorer.
  2. Right-click a Points of Interest feature layer and click Set Default Tooltip to open the Edit Tooltip window.
  3. Enter Tooltip content.
    • See Create Tooltips for information on formatting Tooltip content.
    • Optionally, Click Preview to see what the Tooltip will look like. Click Return to Editor to revise or to finish creating tooltip.
  4. Click OK.

Set the default proximity distance for a POI data source

  1. Click Manage glyph Content glyph data sources to display the Data Sources panel.
  2. To specify proximity, under Points of Interest, double-click the data source.
  3. On the Tooltip tab, for Proximity Display, specify how close the user (view point/camera position) needs to be to the POI for the tooltip to display.
    • If you leave Proximity Distance value blank (0), the tooltip appears only when the viewer hovers over it.
    • Properties uses the current Unit Configuration setting for units of measure. Change unit of measure setting in the application options Application Options panel.
  4. Click Close & Refresh to save your changes.
