Creates a Reference Frame from the input provided. The result is a coordinate system reference for use with simulation output.
Access: |
On the Output Grapher toolbar, click Add Reference Frame. |
Origin |
Indicates the origin of the Reference Frame or coordinate system. |
X axis |
Edge selection indicating the X axis orientation. Use the Selection command to specify the edge and the Reverse command to invert the vector direction. |
Y axis |
Edge selection indicating the Y axis orientation. Use the Selection command to specify the edge and the Reverse command to invert the vector direction |
![]() |
Cycles the Reference Frame axes through the various possibilities. |
To view simulation results as they relate to a Reference Frame do the following in the Output Grapher:
For Joints:
- Expand the Joint node to expose the folders beneath it, such as Positions, Velocities, and so on.
- Right click the Force or Moment node and select “Express results in coordinate system of” > User Defined > (reference frame list).
- Rerun the simulation.
For Loads:
- Expand the External Loads node.
- Right click the load node and select “Express results in coordinate system of” > User Defined > (reference frame list).
- Rerun the simulation.
