Stress Analysis tab reference

On the ribbon, the Stress Analysis tab contains a series of named panels, each with one or more commands that are grouped by functionality.

Manage panel

Create SimulationDisplays the Create New Simulation dialog box, where you define the new simulation.

Parametric TableDisplays the Parametric table dialog box, where you define the table parameters.

Material panel

AssignDisplays the Assign Materials dialog box, where you define the materials to override the original material definition.

Constraints panel

FixedDisplays the Fixed Constraint dialog box, where you select geometry and further define the constraint. Fixed constraint allows access to vector components.

PinDisplays the Pin Constraint dialog box, where you select geometry and define the constraint. You can fix the geometry in radial, axial, or tangential directions.

FrictionlessDisplays the Frictionless Constraint dialog box, where you select geometry and specify a name for the constraint.

Loads panel

ForceDisplays the Force dialog box, where you specify a force.

PressureDisplays the Pressure dialog box, where you specify a pressure.

BearingDisplays the Bearing Load dialog box, where you specify a bearing load.

MomentDisplays the Moment dialog box, where you specify a moment.

BodyDisplays the Body Loads dialog box, where you specify body loads.

GravityDisplays the Gravity dialog box, where you specify gravity.

Remote ForceDisplays the Remote Force dialog box, where you specify a remote force.

Contacts panel

AutomaticEvaluates the proximity of components and assigns contact conditions within the specified tolerance.

ManualDisplays the Manual Contact dialog box, where you define specific contact conditions.

Prepare panel

Find Thin BodiesFinds and highlights bodies that meet the shell features criteria.

MidsurfaceInspects the selected bodies and automatically builds a surface based on the geometry.

OffsetCreates a thin shell component from selected faces.

Mesh panel

Mesh ViewOverlays the mesh atop the current view.

Mesh SettingsDisplays a dialog box with the various mesh settings. Modify, and click OK.

Local Mesh ControlDisplays the Local Mesh Control dialog box, where you select the face where the local mesh is assigned and the mesh value.

Convergence SettingsDisplays the Convergence Settings dialog box where you define the convergence criteria.

Solve panel

SimulateDisplays the Simulate dialog box containing brief simulation information, process warnings, and the progress bar.

Result panel

AnimateAnimates the results - stress, displacement, mode shapes, and so on. You can record a video of the animation.

ProbeActivates the Probe command so you can inquire about the results at a specific point on the model.

Convergence PlotDisplays the result convergence plot for the current simulation.

Display panel

Same ScaleMaintains the same scale when viewing different results. The default setting is Off.

Color BarDisplays the Color Bar dialog box, where you define the location and gradation of the color bar.

Smooth ShadingDisplays the color transitions using smooth shading techniques.

Contour ShadingDisplays the color transitions in contours, providing a hard line contrast between colors.

No ShadingRemoves color shading.

Minimum ResultWhen selected, displays a label and leader attached to the minimum result.

Maximum ResultWhen selected, displays a label and leader attached to the maximum result.

Boundary ConditionsControls visibility of the load glyphs. Controls the visibility of the fixed constraint with vector components glyph. When selected, the applicable glyph displays.

Probe LabelsControls the visibility of the probe labels. When turned on, the labels are visible.

Adjust Displacement DisplayEnhances model deformation for visualization purposes. The setting is for the graphical display and does not affect the simulation values.

Report panel

ReportDisplays the Report dialog box, where you define the report content and then publish the report.

Settings panel

Stress Analysis SettingsDisplays the Stress Analysis Settings dialog box, where you specify the default parameters for new simulations. You can override these settings on a per simulation basis.
