To Name Files for Conduit and Fitting Parts
The part family file naming schema of conduit parts and fitting parts are defined in the Content Center. It can be customized to meet the design needs. They may use the Content Center file naming schema or use the Tube and Pipe specific file naming convention, depending on how they are introduced into an assembly. When conduit or fitting parts are used in tube and pipe styles for route creation, you can determine whether to set the file names for conduit and fitting parts deliberately. If these part file names are not important, it is recommended that you accept the default naming convention. By default, the primary runs assembly disables the prompt for setting conduit/fitting part file names.
To rename conduit or fitting part files, the Prompt for conduit file names or Prompt for fitting file names (insert content as custom) options must be enabled in the Tube and Pipe Settings dialog box. When conduit or fittings are newly generated from the Content Center or are saved in your project workspace the first time, you are prompted to set the new file names or accept the default.
Set conduit and fitting part file names
To rename conduit or fitting part files, you must enable the Prompt for conduit file names, Prompt for fitting file names (insert content as custom), and Enable Part Number Settings options for the primary runs assembly. In the Conduit File Names dialog box, you can determine the new file names for your parts.
Ensure you are in any of the following workflows so that the Conduit File Names dialog box is displayed:
- After the Populate Route command is applied, click OK in the Populate Routes dialog box to continue.
- You are saving the top assembly, primary runs assembly, run, hose assembly, conduit, or fitting the first time, for instance, when the Populate Route command is already applied but you have clicked Cancel in the Conduit File Names dialog box.
In the Conduit File Name field, enter the new file names, use names given by the Content Center, select Empty, or accept the default. Notice the visual feedback that indicates whether the file name is valid:
Cyan: Indicates the active row you are currently editing.
White: Indicates the new file name is valid.
Yellow: Indicates the file name duplicates another conduit in the File Name list.
Red: Indicates the file name duplicates an existing file in the parent location.
Click OK.
Specify prompt for conduit and fitting part file names
To rename conduit or fitting part files in progress of populating routes, saving files, or reusing tube and pipe components, you must enable the appropriate global setting for the primary runs assembly.

- To accept the default fitting part file names, clear the Prompt for fitting file names (insert content as custom) check box.
- To be prompted for renaming of all conduit part files, select the Prompt for Conduit File Names and Enable Part Number Settings check boxes.
- To be prompted for renaming of all fitting part files, select the Prompt for fitting file names (insert as custom) and Enable Part Number Settings check boxes.
- To leave the File Names blank, select the Empty check box.
Click OK.
